I grew up Catholic, but now attend a non-denominational church called Calvary Chapel. (Check it out! It rox my face off!!!) I want to be a writer someday, or perhaps a worship leader...we'll just have to see what God has planned! I play guitar -- well, try to play! I've only been at it for a year, but I'd say I'm above average for that amount of time and considering the vert little I practiced the first eight months out of that year. *shurgs* But it's a ton of fun! I also play the bassoon, sax, and I dabble some in piano. I love to sing. I'd say I'm about average at that. Most of all I just love worshiping the Lord through music! =)

Current thoughts on my faith: I was pretty stagnant for the month of August and most of September. I didn't fall....I just didn't have the hunger and thirst I'm used to. But I'm gettin' back on the fast track. I'm trying to read a Psalm in the morning and study Joshua at night. I started with Psalm 1 this morning and almost fell asleep thinking about it! Oops! I guess that's what running at 6:30 am does to ya!

Faith goals for this semester: Find ways to present the simplicity of the gospel to at least 5 people in my classes/on the street/wherever. I need to make a move in my relational evangelism--I've been witnessing through my lifestyle and my character for several semesters with some people. Now I just need to take that leap of faith and dive in and tell them the Good News. (That's eaungelion in Greek for all you language fans! I'm not quite sure if that's how you transliterate it, though! But yay for learning Greek!) I guess that's something else I should mention...I love languages. I'm a Spanish minor and teach English as a Second Lanugage classes at Parkview Evangelical Free Church. I also am taking my first semester of Greek and hope to finish out the full two year program. It's great learning the language of Jesus' day!

Things I and others can pray about: 1) my little brother going to college in less than a month--that he would meet Christians who can point him in the direction of Jesus, and that he would stop partying. 2) two of my friends who have fallen into the party scene--that they would give their lives back to Jesus. 3) Calvary Chapel Iowa City???--it's a possiblity! People at Calvary Chapel Cedar Rapids are saying a man from California named Jeff is praying about beginning a fellowship here. Plus, a man from CCCR named John has a huge heart for the college students in IC. Big time prayer for God to raise someone up to come here!

That's all for now. I will be back on here soon!
Love in Christ,
Mel
